Chapter 9 is a brand new concept for fourth graders. They have been exposed to decimals through learning about money, but have not really learned it in terms of place value in prior grades. Chapter 9 will cover this. For any students who may be absent or are struggling, this video is a great place to start. Talking about decimals in terms of money is also a great real world connection.
Hi Families, We will have a Valentine's Day Party, run by our fabulous parent volunteers, on February 14th. We will start at 10:55 and finish just before lunch. Students will do games, crafts, and decorate cookies. Later in the day, students will pass out their Valentine's. Students who wish to participate in handing out Valentine's have been asked to complete the "from ____" part of the the Valentine only, due to time constraints. If they wish to hand out extra or special Valentines to certain friends only, they have been asked to do this before or after school so that nobody feels left out. Students who wish to participate need enough Valentines for their homeroom class only. Mrs. Yang's homeroom has 22 students. Mrs. Vala's homeroom has 25 students. Students are welcomed and encouraged to bring in creative boxes for their Valentines, though this is totally optional. Students who do not bring a box will be given a simple paper bag to store their Valentines. Please let us know if you have any questions. Also, please sign up for an SEP conference as soon as possible if you have not signed up yet. We will be sending appointment notes home on Monday, 2/12 to confirm your appointments. You can sign up here www.canyoncreeksoftware.com/scheduler/ut/granite/ with password Phoenix368 Thanks! Mrs. Vala and Mrs. Yang |
