We had a great day at Spring Lane today! At our party students had a chance to play games, do crafts, decorate cookies, and more. Students had fun during the parade, then later in the day learned about the holiday, El Dia De Los Muertos. Enjoy these photos from our party. Thank you to all the parent/grandparent volunteers who threw the party. The kids had a GREAT TIME! :)

Hi Families,
We will be having our chapter 3 math test on Monday, October 30th. The chapter 3 test review homework is available now, and must be turned in before the test on Monday. The link is www-k6.thinkcentral.com/ePC/start.do If students chose to take home a paper copy, I asked them to bring it home today. On the test review, the online version allows students to work through problems until they can earn 100% on the assignment. I would highly encourage this, as the more practice they get, the more solid their knowledge on these concepts will be. We have gone from simple multiplication facts in third grade, to much more complex math in fourth grade. Students were taught various ways to do the same equation, because each student learns differently, and some prefer one method over another. Now that we have learned all of the methods, I encouraged students to use the method they feel the most confident and comfortable with. Please help your students through this homework to ensure they are getting it, because after this test, we will be moving on to division with remainders, and long division. Please encourage your children to show all of their work on paper as they work the problems. This is a bright group of kids, I know they can do it with practice :) Below are several methods that were taught to multiply double digit X double digit, for your reference. You may have noticed that your child's home folder has been filled with pages from the GoMath text lately. No worries, this is NOT math homework that they are supposed to be turning in daily. We often combine the GoMath text with other math tools, so most of the time it will look incomplete. This is okay :-) I have started asking students to tear out some of their work from their math books each day to take home. This is purely for parents to see the concepts we are working on daily. In addition to extra resources listed on my homework tab of this webpage, the pages they bring home will give you some insight into what they worked on each day in class.
The only homework that is required, and is part of their grade, is the mid-chapter, and end of chapter review that goes with each chapter. Those are the assignments that you receive texts on. I hope that clears up what all those math papers are! As always, please let me know if you have any questions, or need extra ideas for helping your child if you see them struggling with a concept. [email protected] Dear Families, Here are a few steps you need to take to access Google Classroom and Google Drive (where your student stores his/her ePortfolio.) 1. Google Chrome browser works best, but others will do if you don't have Google Chrome installed as your browser. 2. For Google classroom go to www.classroom.google.com For Google Drive go to www.drive.google.com (same steps as below, but it will take you to Google Drive and search for your child's ePortfolio. They should be able to show you where it is.) 3. Click sign in 4. Sign in using the following format: first four letters of the students first name, first four letters of the students last name, and first four digits of your child's student number (they should know this number) @ granitesd.org So for example, if the student's name is Maria Tester and her student ID is 9596979 her google ID or user name would be: [email protected] The student's password is one that they made up at the beginning of the year and they use it EVERY SINGLE DAY to login to a Chromebook at school, so they will know it. You will have to first enter the user name, then you will be prompted to enter the username and password again on the page that says Granite Schools (see screen shots below) 5. You will now be logged into google classroom. Once there, click on Mrs. Yang's class and to view the assignments, you can click "stream" at the top for all past assignments. (see screen shots below) You will have to contact Mrs. Yang at [email protected] if you are worried about your child catching up.
Students can also access Mrs. Vala's Google classroom the same way. I will not be adding homework here. Occasionally there are items students can go to for fun, or as a place to go if they miss several days to see what needs catching up. |
