Dear Families,
You either opted out of Ski Utah Day on Dec. 19th, or you missed the deadline for payment and turning in the forms. The majority of the fourth grade will be gone on Dec. 19th on this field trip, and will not be returning to class until around 2 pm. Your child will be spending the majority of the day with Miss Pryor. If your child has a different homeroom teacher, please remind him/her the morning of Dec. 19th, to line up with Miss Pryor’s class.
Thanks,
The Fourth Grade Team
Dear Families,
Ski Utah Day is approaching quickly. Some very important information:
- On Dec. 19th, please make sure your child arrives to the school between 8:10-8:20 am. Please plan accordingly, because the buses will be leaving promptly at 8:30. The kids need to have time to put their other things in their classrooms, teacher need to check that students are prepared, etc.
- Kids MUST enter through the outside gym doors (near the stage side of the gym) on the morning of Dec. 19th. Teachers will be there to give instructions.
- Kids will be wearing their ski/snowboard boots ON THE BUS. They should have a bag or backpack to store their regular shoes. They will bring that bag with them on the bus so they can change out of their boots when we are finished skiing. Please do not send snacks, as no eating on the bus will be allowed. We will eat lunch immediately upon our return to the school at 1 pm.
- You will receive a voucher for a free equipment rental (ski/snowboard plus boots) from an in-town ski shop. You will receive the voucher the DAY BEFORE. If your child is absent on Monday the 18th, it is VERY IMPORTANT that someone come pick up the voucher before 4 pm on Dec. 18th for the child. Mrs. Vala will have the vouchers.
- Equipment that is rented for free from these in-town shops, must be returned by close of business on Dec. 19th, or the ski shop will start charging you for unreturned equipment.
- PLEASE use removable masking tape to label the top of each ski, and the back of each boot. That way, if student’s don’t recognize their rental gear, or it gets mixed up when they are storing it under the bus, we will know what belongs to each child. Teachers will not have time to label every kids stuff, so please do this at home. If you don’t do it at home, please come inside with your child and we will have tape and markers available for you to help your child do it at school.
- Students who are NOT dressed properly, will be asked to stay back at the school. They have had a lesson on proper clothing, and we included a section about it in our first communication with parents. You can find a link to clothing suggestions on Mrs. Vala’s blog, a couple posts down.
- Students tend to feel very tired after this ski field trip. Although it is not a requirement, parents MAY come pick up their kids from the school at 1:30 pm and take them home for the day. Any students not picked up will leave at 3:45 as usual. Kids who are picked up to go home early will not miss any vital instruction. Kids who are picked up early will be waiting on the sidewalk near tte east parking area(between the bus drop off and the east parking lot)
- Students ARE NOT permitted to take ski/snowboard gear on the school bus. If your child rides the school bus, you MUST make arrangements to pick your child up either at 1:30 or 3:45.
